Our Evolution

Montana Cookie Company is an evolving company in a fast growing niche market within a mature industry. The company began in 1983 as a retail bakery that grew into a commercial bakery selling its branded lines across a diverse customer population ranging from national park concessionaires to individual mail orders. Its roots began as a wheat-free alternative source for cookies, thus it was a natural progression for it to become a 3rd party certified gluten-free (GF) production house in 2009.

2012 was another year of growth. The ever increasing requests for GF production support from larger conventional bakeries as well as smaller bakeries that didn’t have the manufacturing wherewithal was a catalyst for change in 2012.  They sought to leverage the company’s gluten-free processes and capabilities to help them round out their offerings.

2017 served as the point in time when heightened awareness of the company’s independently audited GMP practices and continued success as a co-manufacturer compelled the company to make a big decision. While the overall food contract manufacturing industry grew slowly during the company’s formative years, with minimal innovation or outside investment, Montana Monster Munchies recognized the need for continued innovation and scale in order for it to be viewed as a premier co-manufacturer going forward.

With this in mind, the decision was to commit 100% of the company’s efforts to being the best co-manufacturer in the GF space. It values the relationships it has made along the way with those seeking a mail order gift to those who have purchased its products in the grocery store, and it is committed to remembering its roots as it grows to serve the needs of the food community in the future.
